Antaratma (2025) Movie Full Rivew

Antaratma is a Bangladeshi romantic family drama that finally hit screens during Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, though its journey there was anything but smooth. Directed by Wajed Ali Sumon and starring Shakib Khan opposite Darshana Banik, the film attempts to weave emotional weight into a story about love, loneliness, and inner turmoil. At its core, Antaratma centres on Prothom (Shakib Khan) — a man blessed with wealth but cursed with deep internal emptiness. He lives surrounded by material comfort yet is emotionally adrift, misunderstood by nearly everyone around him — even his lover Rupkotha (Darshana Banik). The film tries to explore the loneliness behind success, the search for connection, and the fragile human heart that wants to be seen and understood.

There’s an earnest ambition here. Scenes are carefully framed and the emotional beats — especially Prothom’s moments of vulnerability — give the audience something to latch onto. Shakib Khan’s performance, as always, carries the film on his shoulders: he’s compelling and invests sincerity into Prothom’s struggle, making you feel his isolation and internal conflict even if the script doesn’t always fully support it.

Darshana Banik as Rupkotha brings charm and a grounded presence, and she does more with her screen time than the material sometimes allows. The supporting cast, including Shahed Sharif Khan and Aruna Biswas, fill out the family dynamics in a way that’s warm but occasionally surface-level.

However, the movie’s pacing and storytelling structure are uneven. Early scenes feel draggy and repetitive, circling around Prothom’s gloom without enough narrative propulsion. When emotional stakes rise, the film delivers some genuinely heartfelt moments, but these are too sparse to consistently engage.

Another challenge Antaratma faced was its release strategy. The film was completed years before but was only quietly released without the usual promotional build-up Eid films get. The teaser, songs, and trailer arrived just hours before the theatrical debut, and even the lead cast didn’t actively promote it — a rarity for a Shakib Khan movie. As a result, audience turnout was low,
leading to the film being pulled from major multiplexes like Star Cineplex after just one day.

That underwhelming theatrical run doesn’t necessarily reflect the film’s heart, but it does show how crucial buzz and marketing are — especially in a crowded Eid release schedule dominated by more commercial fare like Borbaad.
